Making it with your own numbers

   Copy the numbers out of your income statement

   Three columns work: the line it comes from, the amount, the line it goes to. Spreadsheet cells paste as they are.

   Paste them over the example

   The panel reads each line as you paste. Anything it cannot read is listed back in your own words, and the rest still draws.

   Set the look, then export

   Theme, curve, labels, value format and export size are controls beside the canvas. Every one of them redraws the diagram as you move it.

Questions

How do I turn an income statement into a Sankey diagram?

Write one line per movement of money: source, amount, target. Revenue lines flow into revenue, then revenue flows out into cost of revenue and gross profit.

Do the numbers have to balance?

Each node should take in what it gives out. If they differ, the diagram still draws and the wider side sets the node height.

Can I keep the same diagram for next month?

Yes. Save it with a Pass, then paste next month's numbers into it. The node order, theme and export size stay put, and last month is kept as a snapshot.
