Personal budget Sankey template

This is one month of take-home pay, drawn as a Sankey diagram. Income enters on the left and every dollar leaves on the right.

It is the shape people post when they show a budget: readable at a glance, and honest about how much of the month is already spent.

Free to build and style. No account until you save.

Making it with your own numbers

  1. 1

List your income, then your spending

Each line is one movement: where the money came from, how much, where it went. Group small categories together.

  2. 2

    Paste it over the example

Amounts keep the notation you typed. $1,850 stays $1,850 in the diagram and in the exported file.

  3. 3

    Pick a theme and export

Square is a good export size for posting. Deck is better if the budget is going into a document.

Questions

Should savings be on the diagram?
Yes. Savings and investments are where money goes, so they get their own nodes on the right, next to the spending.
What if my income and spending do not match?
Add the difference as its own node, named for what it is: leftover, credit card or overdraft. The picture stays true.
Is it free to make and download?
Building, styling and a watermarked PNG are free, with no account. A Pass buys saving, re-running and clean PNG or SVG export.

Other templates

Passes are paid once: $12 for a week, $39 for a quarter, $99 for a year. A Pass buys saving, re-running, saved themes and clean PNG or SVG export.
